Leadership: over time, people have become leaders to get up the ladder in life, to have power, to have influence over others. Why: what was the best recognition you"ve ever had, role of a good manager/leader, rally people to a better future, if you are a leader, you are deeply optimistic. To find a vision that they can sell to the bulk of the followers. You cannot take a vision that is yours and force it on hundreds of people who do not share that same vision and then take them to that promise land. If no one is on your side, all the optimism in the world will not get you there. Basics of good managing: good managers start off selecting good people, know what you are looking for, getting the right people in the enterprise is a critical piece of good managing.
