Foreign dependence: cannot make treaties, alliances etc. Identity of dominion linked to british empire: canadian british subject. At home: mini imperial project at home by canadians, expand the reach of canadian government, over the northern half of north america, the national policy, cpr, Abroad: family of british nations, aid in imperial maintenance and defence. British superiority: revealed through culture (won the wars, improved economy, richest country, first to go through industrialization)
