Philosophers have long believed that humankind cannot be trusted to behave wisely and well. So we focused on order and organizing. Limiting power to some (e. g. , autocratic, regime, kings, etc. ) Just as we can learn from studying diseases in medicine, we can learn from studying bad leadership. Dark leadership happens when leaders focus on personal goals. Leadership as a relationship process focus on common goals. It is simplistic to believe leaders lead only for the common good. Leaders lead and followers follow not out of the kindness of their collective hearts but because it is in their self-interests . Followers follow good and bad leaders because of their needs as individuals and group members. Bad leadership divides into two categories: ineffective and unethical.
