Document Summary
Vannijnatten ( van 9 and 10, dr. v ) email: dvannijnatten@wlu. ca. Politics is a social activity (group will discuss and conflict over what the group should be doing) that is vast and many-sided. 2 assumptions: economic scarcity is inevitable and all complex societies need ways of sorting out different interests and values. Politics is unavoidable because not everyone agrees on goals and how to achieve them. Political questions: who gets what when and how . There are limited resources (e. g. , money) yet many demands from different individuals/ groups in society. Someone or some group has to decide how to allocate resources, resolve conflict. In june of 2016, we passed a new law allowing medically-assisted dying, under certain conditions. Which required resolving deeply held differences of opinion. Originates in conflict over scarce resources or differing values. Is struggle among different groups in society who want different things. Involves the collective resolution of that conflict (cooperation!)
