Document Summary

Recreational use of psychoactive drugs is associated with two basic outcomes: desirable outcomes, problems. What e(cid:454)a(cid:272)tl(cid:455) is a (cid:862)drug pro(cid:271)le(cid:373)(cid:863) the(cid:374): can get many different answers depending on who you ask. Prof(cid:859)s opi(cid:374)io(cid:374): part of the (cid:862)drug pro(cid:271)le(cid:373)(cid:863) is the la(cid:272)k of i(cid:374)for(cid:373)atio(cid:374) a(cid:374)d per(cid:448)asi(cid:448)e stereot(cid:455)pi(cid:374)g. Use terms such as: who, what, where, when, why, how, how much. Before we can begin to establish a more rigiourous u(cid:374)dersta(cid:374)di(cid:374)g of (cid:862)the drug pro(cid:271)e(cid:373)(cid:863) we need to learn a few terms. Most of the terms introduced in this section will be encountered again and again in this course, and in later chapters in much more detail. It is cheaper for society, and healthier for intravenous drug users, to run. Sifs and sifs do not appear to increase the likelihood that people will use intravenous drugs: on the other hand, they are a major social controversy with a great deal of nimbyism (not-in-my-back-yard-ism)
