E. g overall canadians love the medical system . Generalized to large groups (the end game, to draw conclusions) E. g the more religious you are the more likely you are to get married. E. g sex, education, annual income, marital status etc. Six research methods: surveys - consist of closed-ended questions and open-ended questions (quantitative research) Random sample: then you can generalize statistically back to the population. Operationalization (helps you set up the questions for your survey) - question design. Once you"re in you"re invisible and participate, you take notes afterwards. Understand the perspective of those being studied. Able to observe behaviour: qualitative interviews. Detailed, descriptive and meaningful data: secondary analysis. Statistics canada - a reliable source on gathered info. Canadian census - short and long term form census. Randomly selected households get a long term census form (36 pages long questionnaire) the remainder will receive the short version (10 questions)
