Occurs when a performance appraisal system produces the same scores for the same performance even when applied by different appraisers. Occurs when employees who receive the highest scores in a performance appraisal system are in fact the highest performers. As a manager, i will use the review process to do what is best for my people and the division . It is a tool that the manager should use to help. An appraisal method in which appraisers use a numerical scale to rate employees on a series of characteristics. The organization selects a number of traits such things as quantity and quality of work performed, initiative, responsibility, and cooperation with others. Supervisors rate employees on the extent to which they possess each characteristic (see next slide: behaviourally anchored rating scales and behavioural observation scales, behaviourally anchored rating scales (bars) Appraisal method that provides specific descriptors for each point on the rating scale (see next slide)
