World views can be religious, secular, etc. People develop different ways to deal with questions like how do we die , etc. When we explore rituals/stories/etc. , we can think of them as symbolic actions. ^ they depict meaning shared by groups of people that reinforce their beliefs. Definition of metaphor: a figure of speech, connections between linguistic expressions. Metaphors are something that stand for something else. Through metaphors, we understand the abstract in terms of the concrete. Martha & the vandellas" heatwave song: heatwave burning in my heart (example of metaphor) Cree (first nations people): hunting lands are like a garden , this metaphor is used by them and became a really important strategy for them when they were talking to non-indigenous people in the media. Garden reminds people of cultivation/looking after something and they used it as a way to think about their relationship with hunting lands and how they need to take care of their lands.
