Document Summary

Gene expression learning objectives 1: semiconservative replication: two parental strands separate and each serves as a template for the synthesis of new progeny double-stranded. Dna molecules: dna polymerase: enzyme that assembles complementary nucleotide chains during dna replication, nucleotide triphosphates: nitrogenous base linked to a deoxyribose sugar which is linked to a chain of three phosphate groups. Describe the structure of telomeres and the role of telomerase in linear chromosome replication: telomeres: repeats of simple sequence dna that maintain the ends of linear chromosomes, telomerase: adds telomere repeats to chromosome ends. Explain how phenotype is related to genotype: phenotype is the outward appearance of the genotype which is the genetic constitution of an organism. In eukaryotes, genes are not linked but those needing to be turned on at the same time have same regulatory sequences. Describe the difference between pre-mrna and mature mrna.
