Main functions of the liver: the liver is an important organ, as you can see from the list of the functions. It is also the biggest organ in the body (weighing several kgs). We don"t have a dialysis machine for liver disease as we do for kidney disease. It is involved in the intermediary metabolism of carbs and lipids that we consume. It is involved in detoxification and drug metabolism. Liver function tests (blood tests)- for screening liver disease or alcoholic liver disease. Normal liver: so, this is a normal liver with a homogeneous look. Portal triad normal liver: portal triad, where blood sinuses, venules, and arterioles course in normal liver. Alcoholic liver disease some facts: ald- 10th leading cause of death in adults in developed countrieess.
