Police is the extension of the state and a locus of power in society. Policing is any activity that seeks to construct social control. Some of the implications is that there is not enough research that analyses the activities of the powerful. It doesn"t allow us to expand our criminological imaginations and limits us to research on lower class deviance and this is problematic because there is no space to develop and influence policy and laws. Thus, we need to understand these cultural practices. Ethnography is the human process of social interactions and is almost entirely based on field work and requires the immersion of the researcher in the culture and everyday life of people who are the subjects of the study. It typically involves the participation of small groups of people in their own environment and the researcher seeks to obtain a sound understanding of the lives experiences of the subjects. The interpretation is based on your data set.
