Meeting at markham museum at 10 30 next week. Justice is never something that is automatically given. It is not a given, it is always a struggle and is taken. Relationships between social justice and sustainability: environment as something to be distributed, justice as function of sustainability, justice to the environment. Ex: climate change policies have the opportunity to do this. Compensation; much lower compensation for person who is poor for damage from toxins than somebody who is richer. Warren county environmental racism became a big term out of this incident. And ecological arguments are social movements in one way or another. Tend to be more prevalent in ore elite neighborhoods (hence, cleaner air, less weather spikes etc) than marginalized neighborhoods. Justice not just about spread of toxins, but what community gets advantageous environments. Highest level of no2 and pollution in areas with fewest cars: communities with highest car ownership had least amount of pollution.
