Radio started as wireless telegraphy- communicating through airwaves- middle of. Numerous inventors created the various technologies that made radio possible. Used by the military before and during wwi. Us tried to minimize the number of people who could broadcast. Radio and television was expensive technology and required a lot of capital investment. Us is one of the only places in the world where television started in the private sector. In the beginning anyone could broadcast, the government did not like it. When radio was first developed it was a two way technology. Radio act allowed only large companies to broadcast. Radio broadcasting act removes the right of people to broadcast. Became a one way system for people to broadcast news and entertainment. Powerful companies put commercial entertainment onto the radio\ Private companies broadcast entertainment and fund t through advertisement. Advertisement based to sell radio system adopted in the 1920s.
