This period of history established significant outcomes for women workers, one of which was the ideology of the doctrine of separate spheres, which challenged women"s participation in production. This ideology proclaims that women"s place is in the home, as they don"t belong in the capitalist market and belong in the privacy of the home. Women belong in the privacy of their home unlike previous historical times, women were designated the role in the household, work that had no productive value. This doctrine had all kinds of implications in terms of sex-typing. One of the biggest outcomes of this doctrine was that women"s work was devalued as they were not producing good for the market. Their work was not given a wage, which is associated with their status. The formation of capitalism, which created the full-time housewife, was highly gendered. Capitalism as a gendered formation: the development of a wage-less worker in the context of the household.
