In 1272 the korean prince (king wonjong"s son) married khubilai"s daughter, the first of several intermarriages between mongols and korean kings. Intermarriage eventually diluted the korean aristocratic identity, while mongol identity was not. Korean aristocracy became mongolized in culture (supplanting korean culture) The mongols also brought their foreign administrators to korea. The mongols also put themselves on the top of the hierarchy, and the koreans on the bottom.
