A Song of War
•Wrath of Achilles will be blamed for devastation.
•It is a very grim imagine of human carnage.
•It is death and uncontrolled emotion.
•It is a conflict between two Greek characters.
•There are moments of peace and compassion, despite the constant conflict and war.
•Death, darkness, destruction, and fear.
Phases of Time
•These are the demigods and Achilles’ children are who we’re talking about here.
•We are in a stable world where Zeus is in control with only minor conflicts.
•The text was put together in the Archaic Period (800-480 BCE). We’ve been living in
this period with these texts.
•They believe the Trojan War happened around 1200 BCE.
•Around the year 1200 BCE, almost total civilization collapsed, we don't know what it
was. It was big enough to disrupt populations.
•The Dark Age is when the stories of the Trojan War began.
•Homeric Epics were oral compositions created in the Iron Age.

•The war is between Achilles and Agamemnon.
•Who is the most beautiful goddess? Athene, Hera, or Aphrodite? All these goddess
