Document Summary

We start with telemakhos in sparta, at the palace of menelaus and helen. Meanwhile the swine heard keeper eumaios is so enchanted by odysseus and his story, that he gives him the best of meat in the house, not the piece of crappy meat that slaves should normally get. Helen interprets the omen as odysseus coming back from his trials and reclaiming his home. Telemakhos brings with him a friend on the way back to ithaca: this person"s father was betrayed by a woman who sold out his house. When telemakhos comes back, eumaios treats him like his own son and is so happy to see him again. Out of nowhere, athena turns odysseus back into a young handsome man from the beggar that he was: telemakhos throws his arms around odysseus and starts weeping. Odysseus then tells talamakhos not to tell anyone that odysseus is back, and they set out to test which people are still loyal to odysseus.
