Rather than war catastrophe death, we have quest , journey if hero. He"s journeying home, his goal is to move away from pai of war. Iliad was narrowing in on wrath of one man, achilles. Odyssey is a different tale, different light, more variable more complex. More human, we have characters from different areas. Up on olympus, one earth and underworld in tartors to hades. We will see monsters who exist in more than one category half human half beast. Odysseus is a changed man, less phased by glory, he prefers to die, The question right now is what is his identity. Poem begins with odysseus through myths said from other people. We don"t realise that we meet odysseus indirectly the first time when the bard was singing the song of the trojan horse. Odysseus is already translated into the heroic songs, it amplifies glory and kleos, he is already translated into a sort of immortality .
