Geometric age: (900-700 b. c): when greek art began, follows the dark ages", which was followed by the destruction of the mycenaean world. This age produced vases and small bronzes, and depict geometric shapes instead of free form shapes. Archaic age: (6th century) the most creative period. Myths are depicted in art in organic, free forms. The archaic and beginning of the classical period is when greek art was at its most mature. Hellenistic age: the time after the death of alexander in 323 b. c. is called the hellenistic age. Big changes (socially and politically) happened during the hellenistic age. Today, we are left with very few art pieces. Many that were gold, silver, or bronze were melted down because of their value. Also many marble pieces were melted down in a lime kiln for mortar.
