In pre-modern china the state was symbolized by the emperor! The further away from chinese culture a state was the more seen as barbarians ! Relates to the state not and ethnic community! Argued pre modern china was characterized by a strong sense of unity by the states : reasons for the state! Collective result in enhance ef ciency and increase the probability of continued survival ! Believe the most important social group was the people! But there is stability in unity (ding yu yi)! And rectifying the monarch in order to stabilize the state ! The monarch constitutes the origin of the state ! There has to be an accord with the people and the monarch! A monarch known to the people as simply being there ! People had the right to get rid of the emperor! People will willingly follow one who is concerned with the people! It is the use of monarch that makes things stable!
