All science boils down to process of observaion. Essenial event in any observaion is measurement, more accurately something can be measured the happier the scienists are. Most oten observaions and measurements are expressed in numerical form. Scienists observe in order to understand relaions between events and thus discover laws that govern natural phenomenon. Having obtained observaions we must make judgements and decisions as to what they mean. Making decisions and judgments on numbers is part of scieniic procedure. Staisics: is methodology for extracing informaion and meaning from numbers and for making decisions about them. Staisics is between what is observed and what can be concluded about how natural events operate, staisics is procedure for evaluaing scieniic evidence. Great deal of info expressed in staisical terms. Use staisics for 2 purposes: descripion and inference. Descripive staisics consist of techniques for organizing, summarizing, and extracing informaion from numerical data.
