Document Summary
Paternalistic management upto 1890: this was a type of management which took place before the industrial revolution in canada. People at that time were densely located in the agricultural sector where firms were much smaller hence a sense of community was established/promoted. As there was a lack of profit motive and labor being employed at their relatives, there was less labor exploitation. However workers did not enjoy legal rights and were mistreated at times. Coercive drive management system: late 80"s and early 1900: coercive management system which was accompanied by the change from small scale into large manufacturing. Leaders acted from high hierarchy and dictated firms. Ontario factory act of 1884: it came into existence when there was a change from small scale to large scale firms. This act was passed to lessen the child labor hours and inaugurate workplace safety standards but unfortunately the implementation was minimal.
