Document Summary

Science is about a process and cycle we use to understand nature. A hypothesis becomes a theory once its rigorously tested and is true throughout. If a hypothesis fails to be true, the hypothesis gets tweaked. Hypothesis often occur randomly through observing random experiences and coming up with possible explanations. Sometimes we follow intuition rather than a line of evidence. Hallmark of science 1: science is observations of nature, a scientific model cannot include divine intervention. Hallmark of science 2: science tests models of nature and explain observations as simply as possible, we have to accept nature the way it is if it is too complicated. If something a s(cid:272)ientifi(cid:272) theory (cid:271)ut (cid:272)an"t (cid:271)e pro(cid:448)en true or false, it is not a s(cid:272)ien(cid:272)e: the scientific model must make testable predictions. In science, a theory is not the same as a hypothesis.
