The notions and issues at hand- (ethical) theories, stances and schools. Not every simple question that is difficult to answer is automatically a subject of ethics. Normative ethics: focuses on how we ought to act, standards (norms) of rightness and wrongness. Deontology, duty based approach, right now you. Consequentialism/ teleology- what is the benefit and outcome, loss of your approach, judging your approach based on what the outcome is (matters). Telos= end, goal. can do it but you have a responsibility. Deon means what should or must be done. Glaukon: ideal- sneak (can pretend they are just or a nice person)- extra benefit, maintains image , status in the social group (social status, by maximizing the personal benefit even more).
