Document Summary

The answer depends on how we characterize sound: experience (heard sound), physical reality (spherical waves in the air). Physical reality- perceive (we use our senses), independent of an observer, public. Primary and secondary qualities (locke), primary quality is something that is not related to an observer i. e size. Secondary qualities are related to an observer i. e colour. The secondary qualities can be related to a primary i. e a broken yellow chair. (humes) secondary qualities have to exist in the mind and not in the physical world. All of the sciences are limited on the questions that they ask, they will always fall short of answering all questions (narrow areas) . The questions that are not answered in the sciences are gone over in the philosophy of mind (more general questions). To know if the questions that science asks can always be gone over in philosophy of the mind.
