Important to find friends when you"re a small country. Canada has been striving to find friends since ww2. Canada chooses to not and make friends. If we have a voice, we can recruit voices. The alternative, uk/gb telling canada what to do. Not just an ideal, a rational calculation. In ww2, we don"t have the protection of numbers, gb and the us told us what to do. Joined organizations to have a seat at the table. We influenced the making of the un. We got to talk before things happened. Nato was a gb idea but canada made it happen. For canada, sitting at the same table as the gb/us allows us to have a voice. Canada wants to participate, influence the world, achieve conflict management. Small powers tend to focus on diplomacy. Canada likes to promote ideals that aren"t military ideals. In a world of diplomacy, we are a super power.
