Behavior that emerges from unconscious drive: behavioral. Behaviors and thinking vary across situations and cultures. Psychoanalytic perspective (specifically freud) psychodynamic perspective (derived from psychoanalytic approach: the psychoanalytic theory has a big impact on psychological aspects today, based on instincts. A mental energy that can be build up within us. Leads to aggressive and destructive acts to ourselves and others. Structures of personality: id: structure that contains the instinct. Based on the pleasure principal: ego: develops at about 13-15 months. Is in touch with reality and helps the id become satisfied in socially acceptable ways.
