Now biopscyhosocial view bc: major threats in the world are long term diseases (i. e. heart disease, stroke, cancer) Behavioural medicine: psych contribution is health psychology. Stress: a distribution in psychological and physiological functioning that occurs when a event is perceived as threat to our goals and when we cannot cope with the stressor. Usually two components to stress: psychological and physiological functioning. Might have two people experiencing same thing (one may be stressed and the other not: ex some one lost there job and have large family. But suppose that the person who gets red was toying with the idea to start something new: may see getting red as a opportunity to reach a goal. It depends on how we interpret it: ex a divorce. May be stressed if person didn"t see it coming.
