Grand theories gave way to a focus on a narrower and speciic aspects of personality traits. Personality an individual"s unique constellation of consistent behavioural traits. Useful because it helps us predict things like: who would you be happily married with/ who would you be happy with, what type of job is suitable for you, how do you supervise people at work. A personality trait is a durable disposition to behave in a particular way in a variety of situations. First guy in psychology who learned how to use computer well. Gave people a large number of questions (e. g. would you take a shower or bath?) Correlated those questions (then took those and asked the compiter to look at to see ii tehres any group that correlate with each other) Tried what it meant for them to correlate.
