A positive or negative experience generally in reaction to a stimuli that are accompanied by psychological arousal and characteristic behavior. 6 emotions : happiness, sadness, fear, anger, digust, surprise. Emotions are experiences giving color, meaning and intensity to life. Darwin- inherent through natural selection we have to show emotion in order to reproduce and get close to someone. We need emotion for flight or fight events as well as to help us deal with important events. Emotions are e subjective experience and are universal. Different emotions are marked by differeny psychological factors such as heart rate, skin temp and blood flow. Emotions have cognitive processes as well as visible expressions/behavioral reactions. We are able to interpret emotional info. Referes to a pervasive and sustained emotional response that can influence a persons perception of the world. Moods are longer than emotions but less intense. Emotions are more intense but less in duration. An umbrella for moods and emotion to fall under.
