PSYC 3140 Lecture Notes - Lecture 5: Psychological Intervention, Toilet Training
Document Summary
You"re trying to make a connection with the client as well as getting to know them. First thing you need to do is understand the history of the current problem. We care because they"ve reached a breaking point: past psychological history. We want to know if this person had a suicide attempt as a child. Want to understand what their history of psychological intervention is and if they"ve had psychological diagnostics. Want to know what to expect when working with them and how they will receive the help. Some clients may transfer their bad past experience with a different psychologist, onto the new psychologist: past medical history. Want to know if this is someone who has had many medical issues: developmental history. As a young child did they have a psychological issue. Treatment plan: give a plan on how you decide to treat it.
