Document Summary

From childhood we are taught that sexuality is associated with both danger and pleasure (this notion is constant throughout life) Psychodynamic perspective: there is a constant tension between the id and the superego (this results in a constant sense of tension) Most research is based on heterosexuality and not homosexuality: this research started in the 50"s and 60"s, now we know much more about same-sex relationships. Using only the biological model has been a problem in research as well (the biological features of sex is important, but not the only aspect of it) More recent work focuses on the behaviours and attitudes (social factors) that males and females have about sex. Because female anatomy is so clearly defined, there is a bias that revolves around the fact that people believe that sexuality in women is only biological (people do not experience sexuality only biologically, in males and females) This seems to be the norm sexual script.
