SOSC 1140 Lecture Notes - Lecture 2: Feudalism, Making Money, Proletariat
Document Summary
Capitalism is the most efficient system that has ever been; goods are made cheaply and in large numbers in an unpreceded manner. It is why our society has advanced in many ways and allow us to do things we never could never have imaged. However, this economic system is defined by social production and individual accumulation. Over time, the mode of production and mode of exchange will clash. What will be left is a socialist economic system and the government will diminish. In this paper, i will be discussing engel"s view on historical materialism and the social and economic conflicts caused by capitalism. Historical materialism is the description of how the production and exchange of products have transformed over time. Mode of production defines everything, including social classes. The specific historical materialism in focus is the transition from feudalism to capitalism.
