The state supported a system where women were controlled in the household, performing unpaid labour which helped supply a cheap workforce for the capitalist system: needs political power or else they"d continue to be like. In the elections act of 1903, women were not permitted to vote along with criminals and lunatics: not until 1940 that all canadian women can vote. Women are rarely elected to high positions in the government system, and the amount compare to men are roughly 1 to 5: more of the lower municipal levels such as being the mayor are women. Class and gender what is the place for women in capitalist production. Waged/earner (man) vs. household (unpaid labour) exploit household unpaid labour to supply paid labour.
