Socio-legal methods so far: narratology, legal consciousness, legal history, legal pluralism. Legal history- the history of law, how it was applied and how it has changed. Chivalric justice- men will acquit a women on the basis of chivalry, it is significant because it is an example of legal history. Criminalization- when the law or social norms are broken they will only be sent to jail (punitive justice) and has a set end date. Medicalization- when the law or social norms are broken it is considered whether prison or medicalization is a better fit for the accused, as a way of rehabilitation (restorative justice). Has no end date, only released when they are seen fit. Legal pluralism- the existence of multiple legal systems within one population and/or geographical area at the same time. Fight at york: the york rules of student conduct are involved (york security) and the police. Indigenous law- the law of aboriginals in a certain area.
