Be prepared to provide short definitions of the following terms (terms drawn from lectures and readings): Socio- legal studies: the way that law and society interact and influence each other. Narratology: the way that individuals can weave a story about their experience with the law, that can impact how the law treats them. Legal consciousness: our own understanding of the law based on personal experience. Legal history: is the history of the law and how it was applied and how it has changed over time. Legal pluralism: the existence of multiple legal systems within one population and/or geographical area at the same time. Natural law: sense of right and wrong (morals) come from religion. Positive law: man made law that comes from france and britain. Canon law: religious law, law of god. Formal equality: is equal interpretations of the law, and leads to unequal results with the law.
