Reena virk- beat to death by a bunch of people. Conformity- change in behaviour as a result of the real or imagined influence of other people. Shared w other species- rats who were given toxin food that made them sick later avoided that food; however, if they were exposed to other rats eating it, they ate it too. Conformity can override behaviours that promote survival (avoid poisonous food) Na culture stresses the importance of not conforming (as said by mark twain) If the other student provided a positive self-assessment, participants also evaluated themselves positively- more so than if the other student had provided a negative self- assessment. Participants were not aware that they had been influenced by other student"s responses. We are more likely to download songs that other people have downloaded. Asking others what they think or watching what they do helps us reach a definition of the situation.
