The ultimate goal of analytics is effective reporting. The analysis of a report isn"t complete if you can"t show actionable insights hidden in data. A lot of analytics tools provide automated reports. Some reports only have collections of metrics, while others provide a descriptive text and highlights of important events during a time period. A lot of tools provide custom reports, giving you the freedom to choose metrics and add your personal thoughts in text. You can source custom reports as custom dashboards and in turn, customize that report. An effective reports gets the message out to the sender and audience loud and clear for them to understand. Good reporting has the potential to motivate action within people and apply insights from analytics into effective strategies. The elements of reporting are very similar to communication principles.
