Model view opens automatically because this check box is ticket: If unchecked, can start model view by clicking on model view icon on view layout tab. Block next to cursor indicates that you"re in the process of creating a view, and you must now tell solidworks what part or assembly you intend to show in the view. Once you select the part or assembly, click the next arrow. If you tick the create multiple views checkbox and click on the different views, boxes will show up on drawing for each view. The views are added when you click ok.
