Memory- what the computer is working on at the moment. Only contains the files that the computer is currently using. Ram (random access memory) is the main access unit. When a program or file is opened, it gets copied from storage into memory. (loading ) While a program is running, no changes get sent to storage unless you save them. Processor- cpu (central processing unit), the brain of the computer. Single core, dual core, quad core- the number of cores refers to the number of processors on a single chip. 32 bit processor v. 64 bit processor (input bits) Not all software takes advantage of multiple cores and more input bits. Ex) 2. 0 ghz processor goes through 2 billion cycles every second. Allows users and other devices to enter data into computer. Allows users and other devices to retrieve data from the computer. Both: usb (universal serial bust), touch screens, headsets, modem/network cards.
