Document Summary
He would lock his mother out: didn"t recognize her sometimes. He was afraid to tell people about the voice delayed his diagnosis. Forced to put his life on hold hospitalized several times: 2 voices man and woman. He can appear robotic and emotionless symptoms of the disease: medication can worsen those sympotms and cause weight gain. He has never been violent but those with schizophrenia are 2-4x more likely to be violent: proper treatment lowers that risk. Goes to an outpatient treatment center: takes medicine that helps him think clearly better prognosis. He would like to have a steady job at some point in his life and a family one day. Just because these patients are showing physically what looks like no emotion doesn"t mean necessarily that they don"t feel those emotions: there is a gray area there. Flat affect well demonstrated in this video. Diagnosed with paranoid schizophrenia: thought fbi and police were after him persecutory delusions.
