Found a number of people who lost their ability in language/speech found that language was housed in the. Wernicke"s area, which was the left temporal lobe. Significant for the comprehension of speech sounds and is considered to be the language comprehension centre. Can produce speech but cannot understand the speech of others. Broca"s aphasia - another type of language deficit. Can understand things, but cannot produce language. Can determine the necessity of a region for a certain cognitive process.
