Changes in social life in the western world: industrialization and social life, de-industrialization: sending of jobs outside of the us has had an impact on corporate power and how it has changed. Deindustrialization and globalization: changes in the world economic structure, supply chain vs. the assembly line. Growth of factories and breakdown of pre-existing social organizations: family loses its cohesion. Most of what was needed was produced on the farm and then it was traded for other things like nails, screws, and tools. Worked as a collective social unit originally. Lost cohesion when ppl work outside of family, working in factories broke cohesion: changes in the roles of older men and women. Growth of taylorism and fordism, no longer as organized within the family such as dealing w/ floods and other natural disasters.
