59 views2 pages

Document Summary

Two people(only) engaged in an exchange of information. Can be mediated, either shallow or deep. Others perception of your perception of him/her. Self concept- all the things we know to be true about ourselves. Self esteem- the way you feel about those things. Of others: based on uncertainty reduction theory(how you interact w/people, we are uncomfortable with uncertainty with people we constantly interact with) Passive information gathering-info arises without you searching for it at all (ex. notice how they dress/smell, who they are with) Active information gathering- trying to get info but don"t go directly to the source (ex. social media stalking) Interactive information gathering- actually go to the source, talk to the person. Fundamental attribution error-people tend to be more positively biased towards themselves and the people they know and like and negatively biased for the people they don"t know or dislike.
