Grand prix is the highest level of dressage in the fei. It is extremely taxing on the horse"s mind and body. Each movement is scored on a scale of 0: the ideal head position is on the vertical. The horse is ridden in a double bridle. Upper level riders sometimes compete in freestyle competitions, which have certain elements that are required. Show jumping in eventing, this is called the stadium phase. We need to be careful not to push horses to go too high, fast, and wide. Cross country jumping in a field over solid obstacles. Hunter under saddle riding on the flat only. The horse is judged on the quality of movement and whether or not it has a style which would be fitting for a hunter over. Typical breeds used in hunter under saddle competitions include warmbloods, thoroughbreds, and appendix quarter horses. Hunter over fences the horse is judged on form, demeanor, and quality of movement.
