SCHIZOPHRENIA SPECTRUM AND OTHER PSYCHOTIC DISORDERS (psychosis is the
major/main part of all these disorders) (Schizotypal P.D.) *duration is important. Know for test*
Psychosis - lost of contact with reality
1. Delusional Disorder - least severe. The person has one or more delusions with the
duration of one month or more. No impairment and behavior is not odd; the person is
okay aside from the delusion.
Delusion: a fixed false belief. What makes this different from a bad idea? The
person with delusion is not open to any evidence that their idea/belief is wrong.
A delusion is something that no matter how much evidence is presented, the
person will not change their mind.
Something that is SO OBVIOUSLY FALSE no matter your beliefs.
The delusions have more to do with the person themselves
Types of Delusions
i. Erotomanic delusion - the person is convinced that someone else is in
love with them who probably isn’t. Can cause stalking
ii. Grandiose delusions - convinced that they have some amazing talent or

iii. Jealous delusions - convinced that their spouse is being unfaithful
iv. Persecutory delusion - central theme that they are being cheated on,
spied on, followed, poisoned, drugged, harassed, that some people are
out to get them in a very particular way.
v. Somatic delusion - a delusion about their bodily functions. Belief that a
terrible thing is happening with their body
My hand has been replaced by an elephant

Can two people share a delusion? Yes.

ii. Delusions altered to fit hallucinations
