Document Summary

Autoimmune diseases involve all aspect of the immune response. B cells present antigen to t cells. More b cells bind self antigens, amplifying the cycle of tissue damage. Histone h1 and cd16b (fc r) are common accidental self antigens. Histone h1-specific helper t cell activates h1-specific b cells that process nucleosomes containing h1 and present h1 peptides activated b cell differentiates into plasma cells secreting anti-h1 antibody. H1-specific helper t cell activates dna-specific b cells that process nucleosomes and present h1 peptides activated b cell differentiates into plasma cells secreting anti- Histone + dna + acetylation of h1 makes it appear foreign to b and t cells. In the thymus, histone proteins presented are not acetylated. Activation of bone-destroying osteoclasts, resulting in joint destruction. The islets of langerhans contain several cell types secreting distinct hormones. Glutamic acid decarboxylase (gad65) and/or to the tyrosine phosphatases named insulinoma associated antigens (ia-2 and ia-2 ) can be detected.
