PSY 350 Lecture Notes - Lecture 9: Apa Style, Descriptive Statistics, Sample Size Determination
Document Summary
Write a descriptive sentence summarizing a variable in apa format. Gives the reader context for interpreting more complex analyses. Allows you and your reader to identify possible errors. Apa style is designed to make things consistent and keep them brief. Make it easy for a reader to pick out the information they need. In apa-style papers, you should always report, at a minimum: sample size for each condition/group/wave and overall, proportions of nominal or ordinal variables that describe your sample. Etc: means and standard deviations for all interval or ratio variables. If it"s not obvious, include the range to facilitate interpretation: correlations among all variables, information about missing data. *this information belongs at the beginning of your results section. Whoever performed the action should be the subject of the sentence. If you can insert "by zombies" after the verb and the sentence still makes sense, you are using passive voice!
