Some people have more of the valued resources than others. Differences are passed down from generation to generation. Refers to the structured inequality of categories of people who have unequal. It"s the differential ranking of individuals who compose a given social system and their treatment as superior and inferior relative to one another in certain socially important respects. access to social rewards depending on their status. Generally women have always been paid less than men. Generally african americans and latinos are less wealthy. Those who have more are treated differently (better) than those who have little. Those who believe social inequality is just. Inequality is necessary for the function of society. (1) certain positions in any society are functionally more important than others and require special skills for their performance. (2) only a limited number of individuals in any society have the talents which can be trained into the skills appropriate to these positions.
