Pre-Class Assignment 5C
Read through section 5C in your book and answer the following questions.
1) What is the difference between quantitative data and qualitative data?
Qualitative data consists of values that can be placed into numerical categories while
quantitative date represent counts or measurements.
2) Create an example of a survey that is asking for qualitative data and a second survey
that is asking for quantitative data.
For examples if we take into consideration heights of kids 5-10 years old, we are doing
quantitative data because heights are measurements.
If we would take into consideration the audience rating of a film from 1-10, where 10
would mean excellent and even though we would be using number, they would be
representing the subjective opinions about a film. This would be a qualitative date.
The following set of data represents the ages of the students in my Finite Math class.
17 18 18 18 22 21 17 19 19 21 18 21 19
20 18 17 19 19 19 20 20 22 42 18 19 19
